Job Title: Director, Portfolio Specialist, Subadvisory Distribution, Japan

Reports To: Director, Portfolio Specialist, Relationship Management, Japan
Job Summary: Local Tokyo-based representative of Cohen & Steers. The position particularly aims to retain/grow existing and future retail sub advisory relationships of Cohen & Steers (“Clients”). The position will also oversee and provide guidance to other members, as required, in managing operational requirements associated with Clients’ accounts. Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Grow relationships organically, raising asset in existing subadvised funds, or by selling new strategies to Japanese fund sponsors/asset managers.
- Provide leadership in conducting distribution activities, such as seminars and study sessions.
- Assist production, translation and updating of presentations or presentation elements for subadvisory clients.
- Assist Subadvisory Distribution members and New York-based team with responding to regular requests and questionnaires from clients or their advisors.
- Assist Subadvisory Distribution members and New York-based team with responding to ad-hoc questions and requests from clients or their advisors.
- Assist Subadvisory Distribution members and New York-based team to prepare periodic investment performance and market outlook reports to clients.
- Other tasks in scope: to assist preparation for meetings, reporting and conference calls with clients.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be able to speak, read and write English and Japanese with fluency.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college (MBA, CFA or progress towards one is a plus).
- 5-10 years of related experience required.
- Is able to abide by the firm’s hybrid work arrangement policy in Tokyo office (4 days in-office/1 day remote).
Necessary Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and Japanese.
- Must be able and willing to work in a team-oriented environment from a satellite location.
Beneficial Skills (not necessary):
- Knowledge of real estate and REITs, broad market equities, listed infrastructure, preferred stocks.
- Knowledge of the mutual fund industry in Japan, the broker/dealer, mega and regional banking distribution channels in Japan.
Working Conditions:
- Travel throughout Japan on both weekdays and weekends is required. The portfolio specialist may also travel internationally.
- Hours typically 9am to 5:30pm; must be able to participate on conference calls during non-business hours.
